Here is some information about my background. My background includes being an ordained new thought minister. I am a certified Montessori teacher with a history of teaching teens in public and charter schools. I have a background as a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Education. I also have earned a master’s degree in Business Administration. I have been teaching meditation classes in various locations for 12 years.
I have years of experience working in each of these fields, but my recent work in AP Environmental Science, which I taught recently at the high school level, sparked my interest in the environmental field. Last summer I was a part of a group of people who wrote a Pollinator Resolution Plan and had it approved in Carbondale, CO. I started a Pollinator Club at Basalt Elementary School, and I was able to get a Pollinator Resolution Plan approved in the town of Basalt, Colorado.
Animals such as bees, butterflies, flies, birds, hummingbirds, and bats help pollinate nearly 90% of wild plant species worldwide and over 75% of the world's food crops by promoting plant reproduction. Foods like fruits and vegetables as well as some of the most significant cash crops for humanity, like coffee, almonds, and cacao, would probably go extinct without pollinators like bees. While more than 20,000 species of birds, bats, hummingbirds and insects pollinate these crops, the thousands of bee species are the single most important group of pollinators for our food crops.
There is a classification of animals, birds and insects that are "pollinators". Without pollinators our food supply would become exceedingly scarce, flowers would no longer bloom and life on Earth would be hastened towards extinction.
Our initial focus is to present the Pollinator Resolution Plan to towns and cities for approval both nationally and internationally. This plan protects pollinators in several different ways, including the dissolution of harmful chemicals in the areas of towns and cities. As you will see in the following document, pollinators are rapidly decreasing in their populations and there is a major concern of pollinators becoming extinct, especially bees. We risk the extinction of humans if we do not protect our pollinators now. Time is of the essence. This is why a creative partnership with individuals, organizations, and like-minded people can accomplish this important goal of a sustainable environment.
Our purpose is to inspire and educate citizens to identify negative human impacts on our pollinator populations and offer solutions to those impacts. The Pollinator Conservancy provides on-line, in-person and in-field education and presentations.
These interested and motivated citizens are educated to bring change in their communities and educate the like-minded. Our classes include education on pollinator biology, rehabilitation of pollinators through pollinator resolution plans and management, pollinator monitoring of nests, habitats, and pollinator plants, chemical pesticides pollution solutions, identifying all negative human impacts that cause pollinator decline and the solutions to those impacts.
We bring together a global network of educators and citizens who are interested in making a difference, qualified trainers and instructors, pollinator enthusiasts, individuals and communities that are dedicated to the health of our pollinators. Through collective effort, we create solutions to protect, monitor and restore our pollinator populations. We understand the importance of the “it takes a village” concept and are building collective groups of people to collaborate in this collective effort worldwide.
